About our Practitioners:

Sharon Martin

Sharon obtained her BSc (Hons) Ac from Kingston University and Lic Ac from the internationally renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, then furthering her studies at NCA in herbal medicine.  She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council, RCHM and British Medical Acupuncture Society.

She practices Traditional Chinese Medicine, Five Element Constitutional and Medical Acupuncture and treats a wide range of conditions looking at identifying the underlying cause that is manifesting as the condition being presented.  She is pragmatic in her approach in treating and style of acupuncture and works closely with GP's, Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Gynaecologists  and other disciplines to obtain the best outcome for her patients.

Sharon has always been interested in how the mind and body interacts  and the impact this has not only on an individual but the community.  She completed her BSc in Clinical Psychology in 2001 and combines this with Chinese Medicine diagnosis for mental health and addiction.

She is the founder of ‘The PTSD Clinic’ for Veterans, and undertook a research paper on ‘The effects of Acupuncture and EMDR for the treatment of PTSD’.  She is continuing her research in this field working closely with international specialists.

In addition to her Scotland clinics, she is a specialist Consultant in the Cotswolds and Harley Street for complex pain referrals.  She is one of the few certified practitioners to have student practitioners observing in her clinics from training Universities.

Sharon provides practitioner support for Su Wen herbs, to train and mentor acupuncturists in herbal medicine.  She lectures in fertility acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine worldwide and runs a busy fertility clinic in Scotland.  She also offers herbal online consults for those that cannot attend her clinic.

In her ‘spare time’ you can find Sharon walking in our beautiful countryside with her dog, volunteering with local and international charities and undertaking research in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.  Her passion for Tai Chi,  Qigong and overall wellbeing has lead to her opening up a wellbeing centre in Dumfries.

The Acu Hub Treatment Philosophy

Your health and wellbeing are at the core of our practice, and therefore all appointments and treatments are individual and not in a group setting.

Your practitioner will be within the room at all times, so if you would like to chat throughout the treatment, that is not a problem but sometimes your practitioner will advise its is best to let your body work with the treatment in silence.

A range of treatment modalities are used ranging from acupuncture, Moxa, tuina, fire cupping and guasha.  All these techniques will be explained to yourself prior to the treatments going ahead and the benefits that they have to your health.

We use the most environmentally friendly equipment possible to reduce waste and plastic.

Appointments are staggered to allow for COVID 19 precautions and privacy, however the main waiting room or our own is available before and after treatments if required.
